Woolworths shares a ‘life-saving’ shopping hack to save time in the store

Woolworths has shared a “life-saving” shopping hack on TikTok to save customers time looking for items on their shopping list the next time they are in the store.

Posted yesterday to the @Woolworths_au TikTok channel, the 22-second video shows well-known Woolies employee Liam Kirley demonstrating the simple hack for customers.

“This is a shopping hack to find groceries at Woolworths!” says Liam in the video, which is the subtitle: “Have you ever noticed these in the store?”

Liam continues to walk to the end of a hallway at his local Woolworths store, where he inspects a laminated store folder hanging from the end of the hallway on a chain.

“At the end of each time, there are these store catalogs that tell you where a product family is. If you’re looking for honey, it says it’s in thread three, so we make sure to go to thread three and there our honey, ”says Liam.

Each store listing groups items into literate product families, such as glassware, hair care, pet needs, sodas, skin care, and more – as you can see in the library in the video.

“I was a little thirsty so I wanted to find some water, but I did not realize I was in the right gait … it’s a little embarrassing,” Liam jokes at the end of the video as he pans down to a water show and then stares embarrassed into the camera.

Woolworths customers praise hack in the comments

The video has since garnered over 39,700 views and 4,145 likes from users who claimed the folders were very useful when trying to navigate the store.

“Yes, that’s why I love Woolworths. They are actual lifeguards,” wrote one shopper.

“I use the cards quite often – especially now that my Woolies have a new layout,” wrote another customer.

While others were confused that the directories were not universal knowledge: “I use them all the time. Didn’t people already know that ?! “

Others even pointed out that the store catalogs were useful for those with social anxiety and did not want to ask an employee where to find an item.

However, several retailers regretted that not all stores had the store catalogs.

“Not all stores have it, and if you ask where something is in the Marrickville store, they give you an attitude,” said one frustrated user.

“Woolies Cleveland got rid of them. Even though I work there, I need them so badly,” said a Woolworths employee.

Meanwhile, several customers took to the comments to share their own hacks, citing that the Woolworths app has the same functionality.

“I use the app to help me, depending on the product it will tell you which time,” wrote a knowledgeable shopper.

“Now with the Woolies app, it’s even easier,” said another.

Other shoppers even asked for a TikTok video about using the app to find items in the future to help customers find their way around the store.

When searching for products or creating a shopping list in the Woolworths app, shoppers can find the serial number or section at the top of each product.

However, shoppers need to make sure that they choose a particular store to find the appropriate time in their store as not all stores have the same layout.

Another smart feature of the Woolworths app allows you to scan the barcode of products to store them in your shopping cart if you use the new Scan & Go contactless shopping option.

Scan & Go allows customers to shop in three easy steps: Scan the barcodes, pay in the app and checkout through the Scan & Go exit so you can skip the queue.

Customers using Scan & Go can also use the “cool new” artificial intelligence-based scanners shown in a recent Woolworths TikTok video, allowing customers to quickly and accurately add loose fresh products to their shopping cart.
