Kawartha Lakes Police mourn the loss of Constable Mike Broderick.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Service is mourning the loss of Constable Mike Broderick.

In a press release issued Saturday, Nov. 6, the service said Constable Broderick died Friday, Nov. 5.

According to police, he leaves behind a wife and daughter.

Constable Broderick joined the police service in April 2009 and is currently working in the uniform department.

“Mike was an extremely dedicated officer who served his community with professionalism and compassion,” said Chief Mark Mitchell.

“His death is heartbreaking for all of us. Our thoughts go out to His family, friends and loved ones and we will continue to support them through this tragic time.”

Support is also made available to members of the service.

At the request of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigations Branch will conduct the death investigation along with the Coroners’ office.

At this point, Constable Broderick’s family has requested privacy while mourning the loss of their loved one.
