A screenshot from JankyNedelko's tweet by Carl "CJ" Johnson from GTA: San Andreas is cycling in the worst rain ever.

One recently graphics comparison shows work developer Grove Street Games set to remaster the first three 3Ds Grand Theft Auto the titles looked solid at first glance and our impressions were noticed also the noticeable graphic upgrades. It turns out, though, that while the latest Rockstar re-releases look good over the course of some parts of his collection, there are equally terrible visual aspects. Nowhere is this more evident than in the viral footage that has recently been hovering around on social media since the remaster release.

Open-world games often feature dynamic weather that helps any given locality come to life. But in the new version of San Andreas, rain showers make the game look unplayable. Twitter user @JankyNedelko threw up some videos of those cycling in what can only be described as a flood (though none of the streets in the game are, you know, flooded). Yet what is depicted here is a heavy rainstorm that goes far beyond the seasons you might find in an actual city.

The rain almost looks like we are in a tropical climate, like the Amazon rainforest. We are certainly not in the fictional city San Andreas, which is a mix of major western states such as California and Nevada. Climate change is one thing though, so maybe this is just a painful illustration of what we can expect in the future?

I am inclined to believe that this is an unfortunate mistake with JankyNedelko sends another tweet of even more rain. Then again, the release seems full of bugs. I do not want to get stuck in this. You can not even see what is really going on here, and it gets worse when you are close to a body of water. You will probably end up bumping into something or someone instead of reaching the destination you are heading to. It just looks awful!

All in all, things are not going well Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition right now, with fans sharing all sorts of rough footage or demanding refunds. It’s all very reminiscent of today’s Rockstar Games tried to remaster San Andreas back in 2013. Fan wars over the state of the package, from strange facial animations to missing elements (such as songs), have asked the publisher to pull the game from the PC for now. At least the “Aw shit, here we go again” meme has been revived for our viewing pleasure.
