An urgent search is underway for a 17-month-old boy missed baby after his parents allegedly gave him to someone they met at a cafe.

Hoang Vinh Le, born on June 21, 2020, was removed from his grandmother’s care on April 9 this year in Canberra by his parents Hoang Thanh Le, 28, and Lyn Kim Do, 21.

Court rulings have been in place for Vinh to live with his grandmother since April 19, 2021.

The parents have told authorities that around May 19, they gave the child to a person they identified as “Kathy Nguyen,” a person they had met at a coffee shop and had paid $ 200 to care for the child.

The parents were arrested on May 20, however, Vinh has not been found.

In a statement, the Australian Federal Police claimed that the parents had not provided enough details for investigators to identify the person they say is taking care of Vinh.

Authorities have not been able to confirm whether the person who may be caring for the child is known as “Kathy Nguyen” or whether she exists at all.

Police are concerned about Vinh’s welfare.

They say he could be in various areas of NSW, including Cabramatta, Bankstown and Livepool in southwestern Sydney, or West Wyalong, Temora or Wagga Wagga outside Sydney.

Police have warned that anyone who deliberately withholds information can contribute to an offense.
