I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here has lost its first contestant when Richard Madeley was forced to leave the show after being rushed to hospital.
The 65-year-old took to his Instagram account to reveal that he would not return to the I’m a Celebrity camp just hours after news broke that he was being driven away in an ambulance for treatment.
During the caption of the post, he said, “Hello everyone!
“Richard here – first of all just to say I’m fine. I started to feel uncomfortable for a short while in the wee hours of the morning and was rushed to hospital for safety. By leaving the camp I had the consequence cracked the Covid bubble ‘and as such I have had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebrities left in the camp.
“Obviously I’m sorry to leave so soon, but the safety of all campers is a top priority. I’m incredibly excited to see their journey continue … even more so with the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.
Thanks to everyone who supported me on my short but completely unforgettable adventure – I have made some good friends and honestly had the time of my life. “

Earlier today, the TV host was seen by a medical team on the spot before being admitted to hospital as a precautionary measure.
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 05.43 this morning, Thursday 25 November 2021, for reports of a medical emergency at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, Conwy.
“We sent a paramedic in an emergency vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene, and a patient was taken to the hospital.”
An ITV spokesman said: “Richard was ill in the early hours and was immediately seen by our medical team on the spot.
“He has since been brought to the hospital as a safety precaution; the health and safety of our campmates is our priority.”
Wednesday’s episode of the show saw Madeley slip her head first down a sewer of rotten fruits and vegetables during a lawsuit called Castle Kitchen Nightmares.
The challenge led to the presenter being on the hunt for 10 hidden stars in a room “full of castle creatures” when rotten food was thrown at him from above.
Madeley, best known for hosting This Morning with his wife, Judy Finnigan, was one of 12 contestants to take part in this year’s series at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.
Madeley has recently been one of several guest hosts for Good Morning Britain alongside Susanna Reid following the departure of Piers Morgan.
