Some press conferences from Queensland

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath hosted the press conference today.

Delivered by: Annastacia Palaszczuk

She pointed out that if you test positive for COVID while traveling between the state, Queenslanders must follow the rules of that state and will not be allowed back to Queensland until they test negative.

She also said Queensland “can not just open the locks” when the population was 80 per cent vaccinated because it meant that 20 per cent of people “not to mention children under 12 who are not eligible” were not protected.

She said that was why the requirement for PCR testing was still required.

As for PCR tests, she said she is “happy to apologize” for the confusion, but the government had “made it clear that there is no cost”.

“There was a lot of confusion around this. We have made it clear that there is no cost without having to have a certificate. We do not require the certificate, a text that we have always said a text is appropriate.

“It’s been on our frontier POS systems since it went live at 70 percent.”

Mrs D’Ath said it was not possible for police to check everyone for their vaccination status as more and more flights to Queensland open.
