A host of Manchester United legends, including caretaker manager Michael Carrick, hit the red carpet last night for the premiere of ‘Robbo: The Bryan Robson Story’.

Carrick – who remains in charge of this weekend’s clash against Chelsea – posed for photos and spent time with his legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The two may have shared some words of wisdom during the event in Manchester, prior to Ralf Rangnick’s appointment until the end of the season.

Carrick helped steer United to the Champions League last 16 after a 2-0 win over Villarreal, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho both scoring.

And the 40-year-old appeared to be in a positive mood at the premiere as he took the time to catch up with people like Wayne Rooney and Robson himself.

Those present at the party were treated to the first screening of the documentary about United and England’s all-time great Robson, nicknamed ‘Captain Marvel’.

Robson, 64, enjoyed a glittering 13-year stint at United over the course of his career, winning a horde of trophies before leaving Middlesbrough in 1994.

His performance on the track, which largely took place under Ferguson, will be shown on November 29, while HOME Cinema showed the early glimpse.

Paul Gascoigne, Robson’s former England midfielder, also attended. Dressed in a sharp suit in three parts, the 54-year-old certainly looked.

It’s touching that Gascoigne recently captured Robson – who he also played under – to recall their memories, and he admitted that his close friend is also his ‘idol’.

“I’m in awe of him,” he said via United’s official website. ‘He’s my idol, he always will be. I love him in general, I will always do that.

“Forget about Maradona, Pele … the gaffer has always been my best player ever.

‘If I had a little Bryan Robson inside us, in the player I was, I would have been untouchable.’

Harry Maguire was also fit to start, standing next to Carrick for a photo adorned with United’s greats Carrick, Robson, Ferguson and Rooney.

Rooney posed for several snaps with his wife of 13 years, Coleen, and the couple provided a glamorous addition to the apartment.

He was also seen chatting with Steve Bruce, another United icon.

The film will feature contributions from Rooney, David Beckham, Gary Lineker, Ferguson and Eric Cantona – as well as unseen clips and chats with Robson’s family.

Meanwhile, Rangnick is set to become United’s interim manager until the end of the campaign after agreeing terms over a six-month contract.

He is currently head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, but United are in talks with the club to secure his release.

Sources say an agreement has not yet been reached between the two parties, but it is expected to be confirmed in the near future.

Rangnick then stays at United for another two years in a consulting role.
