The NRL’s newest team has secured its first marquee signing.

Melbourne Storm Premiership winner Felise Kaufusi joins the Dolphins in 2023 on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old Queenslander has played 152 games for Storm since his debut in 2015, but will swap purple with red and white when his contract in Melbourne ends at the end of next year.

Kaufusi will be the first major signing of the Dolphins, with the club still chasing their Storm team-mate Brandon Smith.

The recruiting news is a big boost to the new franchise after showing Bronco Patrick Carrigan around their facilities in Redcliffe and holding talks with Titans enforcer Tino Fa’asuamaleaui – who have both since signed with their respective clubs.

It may have been a slow start to recruitment efforts at Redcliffe, but the signing of Kaufusi could open the floodgates.
