A new positive COVID case has been discovered on the Gold Coast, putting people who visited one of the city’s largest shopping malls during last week’s Black Friday sale on high alert.

People who were at the Robina Town Center on November 26 were contacted by Queensland Health this afternoon and informed that they could be random contacts in a case that visited the mall on Friday.

The whole of Robina town center, from kl. 13.30 to 14.45 on Friday 26 November, was considered a low-risk contact point this afternoon.

The center’s Target, Rebel Sport and JB HiFi stores have been listed as casual contact points between 13.30 and 14.30 the same day.

Queensland Health says “an investigation is underway to determine the source of the infection”.

It is unknown which variant of coronavirus has the positive case.

“The case has visited Robina Town Center during the Black Friday shopping sale, so we would encourage anyone who has visited the site or has symptoms, no matter how mild they are, to come forward and be tested,” a Queensland Health spokesman said.
