Christmas trees are festive but can be dangerous if you have toddlers, cats or robot vacuum cleaners. iRobot has at least one solution for the latter. Its “holiday tree recommendations” feature helps Roomba J7 and J7 + steer clear of your holiday decorations.
As The Verge reports, the latest software update for iRobot’s top rated robo vacs allows you to pick up all the annoying pine needles while setting the tree itself as a no-go zone so the vacuum does not crash into the bottom of the tree and tip over. it by accident.
The “Holiday Tree Recommendations” feature will work in the same way as the J7’s other intelligent mapping features, which can see the robot intelligently recommend specific “Clean Zones” and “Keep-Out Zones.” It includes iRobot’s POOP (Pet Owner Official Promise) guarantee to replace the robot free of charge if it runs over solid pet waste in the first year after purchase.
According to iRobot’s release notes, this week’s update also allows Roomba owners to back up and restore cards created for Roomba i6, i7, i8, j7, s9 and m6 – convenient in factory settings. It comes on top of the October introduction of the ability to copy Smart Maps between robotic vacuum cleaners for users who upgrade devices or add more than one to their home.
