Large parts of the Civic have been closed to traffic since Hollywood comes to Canberra.
Filming for the new Liam Neeson movie has begun Black light, where a “crucial” car chase was shot on the streets of Canberra.
Between Thursday and Sunday, traffic and pedestrians will be blocked from several places around the Civic, which includes:
- London Circuit from Constitution Avenue to Ainslie Avenie
- Akuna Street from London Circuit to Cooyong Street
- Bunda Street from Petrie Street to Binara Street
- Binara Street from Akuna Street to Allara Street
- Allara Street from Binara Street to Constitution Avenue
- Nangari Street from Allara Street to the London Circuit
- Rabaul Lane from Nangari Street to Akuna Street
Local residents and businesses will still have access during the admission period.
Public transport along these roads has also been diverted, with bus stops on the London Circuit closed.
Roads are also expected to be closed Monday and Tuesday if wet weather disrupts footage.
The cars used as part of the chase have been seen on the streets of the Civic on Thursday morning in preparation for filming.
While the film is a Liam Neeson film, the Hollywood star is not in Canberra, where stunt drivers are instead part of the action.
Canberra itself will not star in the film, with visual effects transforming the streets into downtown Washington DC.
Light, camera, action! Changes to public transportation and access to the city center will be in place while scenes from a movie are being filmed. The recordings will take place from the 14th to the 22nd of January.
