Two people injured in a light plane crash on the outskirts of Perth are being treated at the hospital.

Emergency services were called to the crash site in Hopeland, a suburb of the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, at 9:30 p.m.

The plane came down near Yangedi Road, which runs past Serpentine Airport.

Two people – a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s – were taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

They are believed to be in a stable condition.

St John Ambulance said they were notified of the incident at 9.29am.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the RAC Rescue helicopter was on its way to a plane crash.

Career and volunteer firefighters are still on the scene.
