A Townsville man charged with manslaughter on his three-year-old daughter remains in custody.

Lawyers for the 27-year-old appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court today and said there was no bail application at this time.

Police said they were called to a property in Kelso Saturday night after two children were reported missing.

Around 8:20 p.m., the three-year-old girl was found unconscious in a rainwater drain and was transferred to Townsville University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The two-year-old boy was found wandering alone in a nearby street.

Detectives from Townsville’s child protection unit have accused the man of a single case of manslaughter, endangering children by exposure and driving under the influence of a drug.

The case is set to return to court for a binding hearing in February next year.
