Xbox Series X and Series S launched in mid-November 2020 to the delight of anyone who was able to pre-order them in Australia. For everyone else, the consoles are unfortunately in a strange state of limbo, with global distribution problems causing long-term stock shortages into 2021 and beyond.

The consoles are currently sold out in all physical stores and new stock is coming on a foggy future date. Here’s how the major Australian retailers are doing with the Xbox Series X and Series S, and when you can expect new consoles to be pre-ordered or purchased.

Update 6/12: eBay is currently offering a discount package for the Xbox Series S.

eBay

Update 06/12: Big W is currently offering an Xbox Series S package through its eBay Store. For $ 499, which is the standard suggested retail price for the Xbox Series s, you will receive the console along with digital copies of Fortnite and Rocket League. However, you can download this bundle for $ 474.05 if you use the promotional code PLUSDEC5 when you check out.

You must be an eBay Plus member for this promotional code to work. You can pick up the package here and a free trial period on eBay Plus for 30 days here.

Amazon Australia

Update 25/11: Amazon has stock of Series X right now. It has no stock of Xbox Series S.

You can also purchase an additional controller from Amazon. And don’t forget to check out how you can use the Series S (or X!) As a great emulation device.

The Microsoft Store is pretty good at having Series S stock, though Series X comes and goes. Here’s the Series S if you’re after the baby console.

Telstra

Telstra’s Xbox All Access program lets existing Telstra customers purchase an Xbox Series X or Series S with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a monthly fee over a two-year period. It costs $ 46 a month to own a Series X and $ 33 a month to own a Series S.

Some Telstra stores will also have limited stock in the store, but Telstra recommends that you call your local store to check it in advance.

JB’s Series X storage has been hard to find – no surprise – but there are plenty of Xbox Series S consoles available. If you would like the larger Xbox Series X, your best chance is to call your local JB Hi-Fi store and check with the staff. Stores have accepted pre-orders in stores every time more consoles come in, so here you can find the number for your closet JB.

The fiddlers

The players are currently sold out of Series X, but they have stock of Xbox Series S.
