AMD in 2021 – the year in overview

2021 was not the most exciting year for AMD. The company did not have a wealth of new products, and even the introduction of new products was not enough to curb supply shortages and scalper problems that had already made 2020 such a sad year in this market.

However, there were still some notable initiatives, so let’s dig in and tell what AMD had in store for us this year and get some context for what’s ahead.

AMD presented its latest products at CES 2021

We had a pretty good idea that AMD would show up mobile processors and additional Navi cards at CES 2021, and that’s exactly what the chipmaker did. AMD lined up its Ryzen 5000 mobile processors, which would bring the heat towards Intel’s dominance in the mobile market. These core-packaged and highly efficient processors also did not take long to enter the laptop market, and they appeared in late January. AMD also gave a glimpse of what was ahead with its Great Navi graphics card.
