Meet Canberra’s newest staycation-perfect little house

Just in time for the cooler months, Cubby and Co. have revealed the newest member of his family – a tiny house called Dinny.

Located at the green foothills of Mount Majura Winery, Dinny is the third residence destination for Erin Wilson and Daniel Di Scipio, the creative couple behind Cubby and Co. (formerly Naked Cubby Co.).

Erin says Canberra’s seasonal weather was the boost they needed to consider a small home after the success of their first two glamping bell tents, Frank and Edgar.

“After building and running glamping-style accommodations for a few years, we knew the next challenge was to create something that could be enjoyed through the ever-changing Canberra seasons, especially the winter,” she explains. “A tiny home worked perfectly and also played into our little ethos of cozy spaces.”

Designed and custom-built by Erin and Daniel and their families, Dinny has a queen-size bed that opens onto a panoramic window overlooking Mount Majuras Reisling block and the vineyard behind.

“The front door opens into a thin hallway to mimic stepping into a mud chamber and celebrating the place’s history with both sheep breeding and viticulture. We wanted to create a really simple space; a place to take off our boots, boil a cup and rest after a day. with work on the farm. “

Behind a partition is a small kitchen with everything a couple needs for a cozy stay, where Erin noted that the layout was inspired by the cabin’s namesake – Dinny Killen, the original owner of Mount Majura Vineyard.

“The little home is small in stature just like the original winery, and refers to the layout of Dinny’s shed: three rooms divided by wooden frames,” she says. “It is wrapped in steel cladding to give the illusion of a modest shed from behind, with nods to the original sloping ceiling, exposed beams and interior lines.”

“We’ve grown and changed over the last few years, and we felt it was the right time to develop our range of all-inclusive experiences that incorporate passionate local, small business and regional goods.”
