This “Jeopardy!” brainiacs not refreshed their civic and current events.
Attendees of Wednesday night’s episode of the trivia show were all shocked by a $ 2,000 clue calling on the name of New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
“By 2021, she will be the first female governor of New York State,” said the clue, read by host Ken Jennings.
Participant Joanna Wu had chosen the answer in the “Double Jeopardy” round as part of a category called “I Am Woman.”
Neither Wu, reigning champion Amy Schneider, nor Ben Walthall of Brooklyn answered with the right question.
“Ben, this is your governor! Kathy Hochul, her name,” Jennings said, scolding the New York resident gently.
The former lieutenant governor came with national news over the summer as she succeeded the disgraced ex-governor Andrew Cuomo, who resigned due to a series of allegations of sexual abuse.
Hochul, 63, made fun of the response to the game show after the syndicated episode aired.
“Think I know the answer to this, @Jeopardy!” she tweeted.
The episode ended with Schneider winning her 21st game in a row, increasing her cumulative winnings to $ 806,000.
