Motorcyclist seriously injured after crashing outside FC United of Manchester stadium

A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash outside a football field.

Police were called to St Mary’s Road in Moston on Monday night after reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a car.

It is believed that the motorcycle was stolen.

The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

His condition is not described as life-threatening.

The officers searched the site for tracks, with a motorcycle seen in the middle of the road inside the barrier.

The incident took place outside Broadhurst Park, FC United in the Manchester area, as the Northern Premier League team hosted Ashton United.

The road remained cordoned off as followers left the ground full time, and later it was reopened around 6 p.m.

An air ambulance flew over the ground and into a nearby park as the emergency services responded.

A GMP spokesman said: “We were called around 4.10pm on Monday 27 December for a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on St. Mary’s Road, Manchester.

“The rider of the motorcycle – a man – was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“A suspected stolen motorcycle was seized and the owner has been notified.

“A traffic accident report was filed.”
