Sonic Lego may officially be your first purchase in 2022

Lego has announced a brand new ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ set perfect for Sega fans and you can buy it for yourself in a few days.

While Nintendo fans have long been blessed by the Danish bricklayers – including a number Super Mario sets and an entire NES console – Sega fans have been fucking lucky. That is all about to change, but after news via Polygon that the beloved blue blur is hitting store shelves.

Based on the franchise’s most well-known level, the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone’ Lego set seems to be doing its best to honor what the aesthetic Sega fans certainly expect. There is a handle-activated spring for large jumps, a classic vertical loop and golden rings / Chaos Emeralds to sprinkle around. The latter can even be displayed on a separate stand.

However, that’s not all, with minifigures not only by Sonic but also Dr. Eggman and Eggmobile. In total, there will be respectable 1125 pieces to put together, with the finished product measuring around 17 cm x 36 cm x 6 cm. Perfect for a showcase if you ask us.

The upcoming set is a result of the Lego Ideas program – which allowed fans to submit ideas for potential future designs. This Sonic design was submitted by Viv Grannell and was confirmed to go into production way back in February 2021.

Almost a year later you will be able to grab one for yourself for a nice sum of $ 119.99. Orders are set to open via the Lego store on January 1, 2022, but we can imagine it will be in high demand, so if you want one … go fast.
