Toronto man faces street-racing charges after flight from Quinte West OPP – Kingston

A man from Toronto is facing a laundry list of charges, including fleeing police, following an incident in Quinte West on December 28th.

Quinte West OPP says their officers tried to implement a traffic stop on the 401 after they saw a vehicle driving too fast. Instead of stopping, the vehicle drove off and reached speeds of more than 170 kilometers per hour.

Police say an investigation revealed the car was stolen. They later overtook the driver in nearby Belleville after he dropped the car. Police found the man hiding behind a tree near where the car was parked.

Matthew Corbin, 26, of Toronto, faces six separate charges, including fleeing an officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving in a suspended state, theft of a vehicle, failure to comply with an obligation, and racing with a vehicle.

He was detained on bail and appeared in court on December 29.
