Victoria COVID case today: New infections skyrocket as deaths hit double digits ahead of national government meeting

Victoria’s COVID-19 case has risen to yet another state record with more than 5,000 new infections.

There were 5137 cases confirmed within 24 hours until midnight, which is an increase of 1370 from Wednesday’s figure of 3767.

The state also recorded 13 more coronavirus-related deaths.

Virus admissions are declining by 395, of which 55 are on intensive care and 23 are on respirator.

More than 92.8 percent of Victorian residents over the age of 12 have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
