Missed for almost 2 months
A man from West Kelowna has been missing for almost two months.
James Wood, 27, disappeared from his home in West Kelowna on Peters Road on November 8.
Woods mother Pat says her son has a mental disability and ran away after being told by a psychiatrist that he had to go to the hospital.
“He was flipped out of going to the hospital because we spent many hours sitting there. He said to the psychiatrist, ‘I’m not crazy, I’m in pain and I’d rather die and then go back to that ward.”
Wood says her son has the mental capacity as a 12-year-old.
“My fear is that he crumbled under a rock and moved on. I need my son back. I want him alive. He has social anxiety. He does not leave home and he has no friends.”
Back on November 10, police and search and rescue crews conducted a search for Wood.
COSAR told Castanet that they were looking for Wood in several different areas, but they focused mainly on the Carrington Road area.
Police also went from door to door in the neighborhood. On November 11, police stopped the search.
Wood is described as a Caucasian man, five-foot-eight, 126 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
Pat posted an update on Facebook on Wednesday asking for public help.
“Dear family, friends, neighbors and citizens of West Kelowna and the Okanagan area. I appeal to you for your help in finding my son. He disappeared on November 8 at approximately 1.45pm from his home on Peters without cell. money. [He] was wearing only blue plaid pajamas. “
“I beg our community to be looking for my son. Please look in your gardens, sheds and under your trees. When you are on your walks, look under bushes, keep an eye on every area. James must be found,” she added .
Castanet has contacted RCMP for an update.
