What happens to the Oppo Find X5’s camera bump?

(Pocket-lint) – Oppo is a phone brand that is not afraid to experiment. Do you need proof? Just look at the camera bulge on its next flagship.

OnLeaks has in collaboration with Prepp.in published renderings of the upcoming Oppo Find X5. (Presumably the Oppo X4 skips over, as the number 4 is usually avoided in China.) It’s unclear whether the model pictured is a standard X5 or a pro version, but one thing is clear: That camera bump is not your typical camera bulge. Instead of having a square house, it is angled, creating a unique shape.

The renderings also clearly show two large sensors and a smaller third over the flash. For reference, the phone’s predecessor, the Find X3, had three large sensors and a small one. This means that the Find X5 appears to drop a camera sensor, possibly the microscope lens.

Aside from the odd camera module, the phone is very similar to the Find X3. The display and the overall design are all very familiar.

The Find X5 is expected to have a 6.78-inch 120Hz screen, 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Currently, it is also believed to run on a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. But all the models in the Find X3 series had Snapdragon chips. So one would assume that the Find X5 Pro launches with a Snapdragon chipset (probably 8 Gen 1), but this latest report suggests otherwise.

Oppo Find X5 may be announced early next year, in March. Stay up to date on Pocket lint to get the latest updates on the new series.
