As much as I love my running watch (I’ve been lucky enough to try lots of great running watches, but the Garmin Instinct Solar is still my favorite), I prefer to leave it in a drawer in early January and go out with bare wrists .

It’s not permanent and I still do not go out without a phone just in case of an emergency, but it’s a good time to remind myself that I do not need technology to enjoy running. When you allow yourself to enter the zone, the simple joy of movement is enough.
