Woman critical after being hit by taxi at Sylvania | St George & Sutherland Shire Leader

A 70-year-old woman was taken to St George’s Hospital in critical condition after being hit by a taxi near Sylvania this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Port Hacking Road, near the Bellingara junction, just before noon. 14.00 after reports that a pedestrian had been injured.

“The woman was treated on the spot by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken by air to St George’s Hospital in a critical condition,” a police statement said.

“The male driver was not injured and underwent a breath test at the roadside which gave a negative result. He was also driven to the hospital for mandatory testing.

“Officers attached to the Sutherland Shire Police Area Command established a crime scene and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”

Northbound lanes of Port Hacking Road were closed at Bellingara Road after the accident.
