Barcelona are looking at yet another Manchester City star after Ferran Torres’ signing

In total, the Spanish national team player has played 19 matches in all tournaments and scored two goals in the 5-0 and 6-3 victories over Norwich City and Leicester City respectively.

But despite appearing regularly this season, he may be on his way back to Spain after nearly four years at the Etihad.

Any fee for Laporte is likely to be in the same region as the money paid for Torres when City paid out £ 58m to Athletic Bilbao for his services in January 2018.

Barca are hoping a fresh injection of money this summer will be enough to bring the defender to Catalonia, where he would connect with former City player Eric Garcia.

Garcia joined the Catalan club on a free transfer last summer and plays regularly with Laporte for the Spanish national team.

Laporte is currently under contract at City until June 2025, meaning a high transfer fee will be even more likely.

However, the 27-year-old’s focus will be on City so far as Guardiola’s men prepare for an away game at Arsenal on New Year’s Day.

A 1-0 away win over Brentford on Wednesday has left the reigning champions eight points clear at the top of the table.
