Melbourne’s Moulin Rouge performance was canceled in the middle of the show on New Year’s Eve after staff tested positive for COVID-19

Spectators at Moulin Rouge! The Musical was told to leave the Melbourne Regent Theater in the middle of the show on Friday afternoon after an employee of the company tested positive for COVID-19.

The organizers interrupted the performance halfway through the second act and told the audience that the show would not continue and that Ticketmaster would contact them before long.

They did not specify who had received the positive result.

In a statement, a spokeswoman said the decision was due to an abundance of caution.

“We made the decision to cancel the afternoon’s performance Moulin Rouge! The Musical after a positive COVID-19 test result in the wider company was made known to us, ”she said.
