The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a surprisingly good season so far and they currently have a record of 20-15. There is no doubt that they have exceeded expectations and have shown that they are a very tough team.
However, there has been an injury recently that could affect their performance. Point guard Ricky Rubio has gone down with an ACL injury and there is no doubt that he was important to the way they play.
It looks like the team has already zoned in on a player who could help the team. Adrian Wojnarowski recently reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers are close to agreeing a deal for point guard Rajon Rondo. A trade can take place as soon as next Friday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are approaching a deal to acquire Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo – and a deal is expected to be reached as soon as Friday, sources tell ESPN. Rondo would be able to join Cleveland as soon as he clears the Covid Protocols.
The Cavaliers move on the deal in the wake of Ricky Rubio’s knee injury that ends the season.
Ricky Rubio is a player whose best attribute is playmaking, and perhaps Rajon Rondo could fill that void for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although Rondo is clearly a worse player than Rubio at this stage of his career, he can certainly be a good stop-gap opportunity. It is currently unclear what player / draft compensation the Los Angeles Lakers will receive in return for the veteran’s point guard.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were also previously associated with Caris LeVert and Joe Harris, so maybe we’ll see the Cavaliers make more trades this year. It’s good to see them come back to be a competitive team and hopefully they are able to continue their fantastic game if the deal comes over the finish line.
