Simon Jordan says he has ‘fallen out of love’ with Manchester United midfielder

Simon Jordan says he has “fallen out of love” with Bruno Fernandes after the midfielder’s disappointing first half of the season with Manchester United.

Fernandes has produced five goals and three assists in his 17 Premier League appearances this season, compared to 18 goals and 13 assists in his 37 league appearances last season.

Sky Sports expert Neville struck out after the pair for “whinging” at their teammates during the match in St James’ Park.

Jordan said in talkSPORT: “Should Fernandes and Ronaldo have such an influence? Well, here’s the argument raging. We talked about Ronaldo’s coaching from the sidelines earlier in the season. We’re talking about his influence dot.

“That was when you had a lightweight manager in the dugout. Nice guy, decent manager, but not a Man United manager in Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

“You now have Rangnick, who is not a Man United manager in terms of identification, but is in the same category as football. [Marcelo] Bielsa in terms of reputation.

“He does not necessarily have the silverware for it.

“I’ve fallen in love with Fernandes. I think he’s been reading his own press for some time. I think he’s the president of Bruno Fernandes’ fan club.

“He has a view on how he wants to play and the ridiculous remonstration to Manchester United fans after the Watford match was absurd.

“His performances have not been where they started. Maybe it’s because of turtles and hare mentality.

“I still think Rangnick will make a fist to turn this ship around in Man United, but in terms of personalities, you have great personalities in there.

“You can not have a great personality like Ronaldo and then not have a personality. He is a great personality.”

United start the new year outside the top six for the first time in 32 years if they failed to beat Burnley at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has suggested striker Edinson Cavani could return to the starting line-up after coming off the bench to score against Newcastle.

Asked if Cavani was able to face Burnley after recovering from a tendon injury, Rangnick said: “Yes, in fact, in the last two days, I also considered playing against him from the start.

“I talked to him yesterday and the day before yesterday and he did not feel comfortable playing from the beginning [against Newcastle] and because he did not know how fit he really was.

“But after being one down at the break, it was clear to me that we need to take more risks, that we need to change something, and that’s why we decided to hire him and Jadon. [Sancho] at the break. “
