Steve Smith has produced a widespread social media post recording an unexpected 55-minute stay in a hotel elevator.
The Australian vice-captain, known for his intensity at the fold, showed fans a lighter side of his personality with his Instagram post as he documented his incarceration.

It aptly contained a supporting role for Marnus Labuschagne, widely regarded as his protege.
“Not quite the night I had planned, I’m currently stuck in an elevator,” he said in a video showing his followers how he was caught 20 floors up.
“The doors will not open, it is out of order … I have tried to get the door open, I have this side open. Marnus is on the other side trying to open the door. ”
Labuschagne helped Smith keep his energy levels high by delivering a handful of M & Ms through the hole in the doors while he tried to pry them up.
Nevertheless, Smith said, “It’s not very funny, I do not really enjoy it in here.”
As his boredom grew, Smith imagined in an eye-opening segment that he was dancing while wearing nothing but a pair of swimwear using Romain Leroux’s Instagram effect ‘What will u Dance?’ filter.
When a technician finally arrived to free him, Smith crawled out to applause from the “rescue team.”
“It’s 55 minutes, I’ll probably never come back,” he once said safely back to his room.
The post was picked up by twitter users, including BT Sport, which covers Ashes for English audiences and the Times of India.
Smith was in the lift longer than any English batsmen spent on fold in their second innings in the third Test except Joe Root. As several users commented: ‘If he had been an English batsman, he would have been out much faster’.
