The cover is off in Hobart and Joe Root has won the throw in the Fifth Ashes Test as the Aussie selectors make a big call. Follow all the action live.

The light rain has stopped and England will bowl first in Hobart after Joe Root won a delayed throw.

Scott Boland seems to have passed one last fitness test to play in the Ashes final, but it will be Jimmy Anderson and the English fast who will get the first use of a green Bellerive Oval course.

The fast bowler marked his run with Australia’s other bowlers before playing at the Bellerive Oval as he prepares for his third Test in a row in the series.

Boland struggled with a rib injury, but voters and medical staff support him to play his way through the pain.

The big fast was originally chosen as the MCG specialist, but has risen in ratings to the point that he now gains confidence to play through pain – so vital has he become for the attack.

Australia’s only change for Sydney is that Travis Head returns to the middle row, forcing Marcus Harris to miss it so Usman Khawaja can make room to switch to the top of the row.

However, the tires are on and the throw has been delayed due to rain.

The fifth Ashes Test from Hobart was to start at 15 (AEDT). Follow all the action in our liveblog below.

Joe Root has won the draw and England come first on the pitch in the fifth Test.

On a cloudy afternoon, Jimmy Anderson and the English attack get the first crack on a pitch with lots of grass on.

Australian captain Pat Cummins admitted he would probably have bowled first too, given the weather in Hobart.
