Toyota is set to enter the GT3 racing world after celebrating the release of a concept car aimed at customer applications.
“TGR is committed to further accelerating customers’ motorsport activities to make the motorsport world sustainable,” read a statement from Toyota Gazoo Racing.
“To promote” driver first “car development and with a desire to deliver attractive cars that customers participating in GT3, which is the top of customer motorsport, would choose, TGR has unveiled the GR GT3 concept.
“As was the case with GR Yaris, by commercializing motorsport cars instead of simply adapting production cars for use in motorsport, TGR will use feedback and technologies refined through participation in various motorsport activities to develop both GT3 and mass production cars and further promote the production of still better motorsport-bred cars. “
TGR also unveiled a limited edition GRMN Yaris for the Japanese customer market.
“The development of the GRMN Yaris began with Morizos, President Toyoda’s desire to” deliver cars to customers that are evolving rapidly and can be tailored to individuals such as in motorsport, “the statement explained.
“In addition to refining the vehicle with professional drivers as a fully tuned model of the GR Yaris, a new program needs to be activated that will provide customers with the type of daily vehicle development and driver-tailored customization that takes place in motorsport.”
The development comes as Toyota also appears to be participating in TCR competition with a Corolla model.
