MLK Jr. Memorial Library (901 G St. NW) is a great place to reflect on MLK Jr. this weekend as an alternative to braving the cold at the Mall. In addition to the beautiful MLK Jr. mural that makes you happy when you step in, it has been recently renovated and is a must see for its beautiful new space, outdoor roof terrace, DC history exhibit and stunning stairs (including a children’s slide).

You can pick up MLK Week of Service activities and more general MLK activities for to-go kids, attend a “What’s your dream?” quick exhibition on the children’s floor, contribution to a dove of peace art project outside the teen room, watch the “I Am a Man” documentary showing and book lots on Saturday, and listen to MLK Jr.’s speeches all day Monday at 6 p.m. the great hall. “
