Greek superstar Stefanos Tsitsipas left viewers and spectators at Rod Laver Arena with an invaluable moment when he did not realize he had won his match in the third round.
The fourth-seeded Tsitsipas today averted Frenchman Benoit Paire 6-3 7-5 6-7 (2) 6-4 to advance to a match in the fourth round.
Leading 5-4 in the fourth set, Tsitsipas was up 40-0 and on match point as Paire made a forced mistake to end the match.

While Tsitsipa’s briefly celebrated the moment, he went to receive his towel after not realizing the match was over, with Paire confused and waiting at the net.

“It was wild, Stefanos literally did not know he had won the match there,” Brad Stine said in a comment.
“It was funny because Benoit was staring down at him, it looked like he (Tsitsipas) was going to pick up his towel before he came to shake hands, and Benoit actually looked a little annoyed like,” came shaking hand, man, what are you doing? ‘
“Then he turned around and saw Benoit at the net and realized what was happening.”
The Greek star finished second at the French Open and reached the Australian Open semi-finals last year.

Tsitsipas will next meet American Taylor Fritz.
No.20-seeded Fritz had a 6-0, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 15 Roberto Bautista Agut to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time.
The 24-year-old American, who competed for his sixth Australian Open and his 22nd major overall, got only his second win and seven head-to-head meetings with Bautista Agut, a 33-year-old Spaniard.
