The man was found about 11:45 a.m. with life-threatening wounds on Springbank Drive near Wharncliffe Road, police said. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The man’s identity has not been released. Police said no arrests have been made.

Springbank is closed between Wharncliffe and Orchard Street as investigators probe the city’s first homicide of 2022. Police said officers will remain in the area well into the night.

The probe appears to center on a property on the south side of Springbank, where forensic investigators took photographs of the driveway and gathered measurements. Officers canvassed nearby houses and businesses.

There were 13 homicides in London in 2021, the second-highest tally in the past three decades.
