A 74-year-old Peterborough man is facing an aggravated assault charge after an incident Friday that led to a man going to the hospital.
At approximately 11:55 pm on Jan. 28, Peterborough Police say officers received a call about an injured male.
Officers reportedly learned that because of the cold weather, the injured male was being allowed by the homeowner to stay at the residence with another male when an alleged dispute between the two guests led to a physical altercation. However, the victim did not wish medical treatment.
On Saturday, Jan. 29, the homeowner called police to let them know the victim had been taken to Peterborough Regional Health Center, say police.
Upon arrival at PRHC, officers reportedly learned the victim was being transported to a Toronto-area hospital for treatment.
Through investigation, officers attended a location just off the bike path near the river off of Water Street and Hilliard Street, located the suspect and took them into custody, say police.
As a result, a 74-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday, Jan. 30.
