Underwater crews were seen in Salford Park at the center of the homicide investigation after a 17-year-old boy stabbed to death

Underwater teams have been seen in a Salford park where a teenager was stabbed to death.

Clowes Park in Broughton is now the center of a homicide investigation after police found the body of a 17-year-old boy over the weekend.

Officers were called to the beauty spot around 7:30 a.m. Sunday (January 30) after a local dog aerator reported finding a man who did not respond.

Ambulances rushed to the scene, but he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The boy’s family has been notified, but no further details have been released about his identity.

Underwater divers are on site

Another 17-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

Monday afternoon (January 31), Clowes Park remained busy to the public while police continue to conduct their investigations.

Underwater teams could be seen searching the lake – close to where the boy was found.

Forensic scientists and tactical assistance police were also seen nearby.

Greater Manchester Police continue to appeal for witnesses or for anyone with information to report.

They also encourage local residents to check out CCTV or doorbell recordings that can help put together exactly what happened.

During a press conference at GMP headquarters, Assistant Chief Constable Tony Creely said their investigation is still ongoing.

“About half past seven yesterday morning – Sunday, January 30, 2022, we were called by a dog aerator who had found an unresponsive male in Clowes Park in the Broughton area of ​​Salford,” he said.

“The man turned out to have a stab wound and was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

“We believe he was 17 years old, but officers are still in contact with his relatives to arrange formal identification.

“A 17-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is now in custody.
