A Georgia district attorney who is investigating whether Donald Trump tried to interfere in the outcome of the 2020 election requested FBI security assistance after the former president cracked down on prosecutors investigating him.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis expressed his concerns to the FBI in a Sunday letter after Trump expelled investigations in New York, Georgia and Washington at his demonstration Saturday night outside Houston.

Trump said in Willis’ letter: “If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we in this country will have the biggest protest we’ve ever had in Washington, DC, in New York. in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our choices are corrupt. “

The former president did not name any prosecutors at the meeting.

Willis initiated an investigation last year in which he looked at any attempts by Trump and his staff to unduly influence the 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia.

She asked the FBI for “intelligence services and federal agents” and for a risk assessment of the county courthouse, where her office is located, and government center.

“My staff and I will not be affected or intimidated by anyone as this investigation progresses,” Willis wrote in the letter to the FBI.

“We must work together to keep the public safe and ensure that we do not have a tragedy in Atlanta similar to what happened at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,” she said.

Willis plans not to let fear or intimidation stop her investigation.

Willis has previously said that her investigation will, among other things, examine a phone call on January 2, 2021 between Trump and Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Trump denied in a statement earlier this month any wrongdoing, saying his call to Raffensperger was “perfect.”
