“He was just like a rag doll that was just thrown and kicked about,” the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told 7NEWS.
The woman claims a group of about 20 people singled out her son at a shopping center entrance.
They asked him if he knew someone called “Harry”, she said.
When he said he did not, “they have viciously grabbed him and violently assaulted him”, according to the woman.
She said the attack was unprovoked and her son did not know the attackers.
“They stomped all over his head,” she said.
“He’s got bruising, quite a bruise to his eye, scratches where they grabbed around his neck as well. Stomped on his shoulder.
“He was quite distraught and distressed, crying and screaming.
“I want these people held accountable for their behavior, their violent, vicious acts.”
A shopkeeper told 7NEWS a security guard arrived soon after the assault but the group had run off.
Police are looking for the attackers. No arrests have been made.
