Britney, 40, and Sam, 28, announced in April that they were expecting their first child together.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Spears posted a picture of Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, looking at herself in the mirror with black eye makeup running down her face, with the words: “I am not in the mood to be with a bunch of people.”
“Unfortunately my mood these days… I honestly hope it does not turn into years,” Britney wrote alongside the picture.
The post prompted an outpouring of support from the Toxic singer’s fans and followers.
“I’m so sorry Brit. Hope you feel better soon, we love and support you, ”one follower wrote.
“It’s ok to not feel 100 percent. You have been through so much. Take care and sending love, ”wrote another.
Britney and Sam released a joint statement about the miscarriage, calling it “devastating”.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” the statement read.
“This is a devastating time for any parent.
“Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however we were overly excited to share the good news.
“Our love for each other is our strength.
“We are grateful for all of your support.
“We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

They became engaged in September 2021, but rumors abound that they are already married.
Britney has two sons, 16-year-old Sean Preston and 15-year-old Jayden James, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
The singer was released from her 13-year-long father’s conservatorship in November last year.
During that time, she said she was prevented from removing her contraceptive IUD.
“I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby, but this so-called team will not let me go to the doctor to take it out because they do not want me to have children,” she said in 2021.
Sam and Britney have confirmed they will “continue trying to expand our beautiful family”.
