Get ready Toronto, Ikea is making it way downtown.

The Swedish-founded retail giant is scheduled to open its latest Canadian store on May 25. It will be Ikea’s 15th store in Canada, but the first in this country to offer a small-store format.

Located at Yonge and Gerrard Streets at the Aura Shopping Center, the store has taken over the space previously occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond and several restaurants.

Everything from the specific products on display to the showroom mock-ups was specifically designed with the urban customer in mind, said store manager Patrice Dreano, adding that many of the items are meant for smaller spaces.

The Star got a sneak peak of the 66,000 square foot space, from the showrooms to the iconic Swedish deli.

The Star got an exclusive sneak peek into the location, situated at Yonge Street and Gerrard Street East.
