According to her talent agent, Amber Heard was almost fired from the highly anticipated film Aquaman 2.

Following the actress’ highly-publicized defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, significant amounts of viewers petitioned Warner Bros. to have her removed from the film’s sequel.

Jessica Kovacevic, Heard’s talent agent, testified this week and said Warner Bros. claimed it was Heard’s “lack of chemistry” with her co-star Jason Momoa that almost had her dropped from the movie.

In her pre-recorded deposition, Kovacevic touched on Heard’s acting career amid her divorce from Depp, saying that the 36-year-old’s career should have taken off after the 2018 blockbuster film Aquaman, which grossed over $ 1 billion USD ($ 1.42 billion AUD).

The agent discussed the “online rumors” which contended Warner Bros. wanted to replace Heard, and also said she believed that the bad publicity surrounding Heard and Depp’s court case inevitably lead to studio doubts about the actress maintaining her role as Queen Mera.

Kovacevic offered her own opinion, saying she believed the studio did not “want to hire someone who has bad press,” adding, “No one wants that association.”

This comes after Heard claimed that she lost many career opportunities amid her legal battle with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.

“I lost opportunities. I got dropped from jobs and campaigns. I fought to keep my job and the biggest movie opportunity I had to date [with] Justice League with the option to [star in] Aquaman,“she said.

“I had to fight really hard to stay in Justice League because that was the time of the divorce, “Heard added.

The petition to oust Heard from the film has garnered significant attention, amassing over 4.3 million signatures since it was first published in 2020.

In the sequel, which is due to premiere in March 2023, Heard reportedly only has 10 minutes of screen time.

Heard discussed her minimal part in the sequel, confirming that the studio significantly decreased her role while her trial with Depp carried out, claiming that they “did not want to include me.”

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role, “she told the court. “They just removed a bunch out.

Depp filed a US $ 50 million (approx. $ 70 million) defamation case against the actress over a 2018 op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post about domestic abuse.

Heard did not mention Depp by name in her essay, but the actor argues it was obvious she was writing about him. The trial continues.
