UBS has promoted Evan Karatzas to a lead analyst in its Australian small caps research, in a round of changes announced inside the investment bank this week.
UBS told staff Karatzas would become lead analyst in the emerging companies team, after five years analyzing sectors including agriculture and mining services. UBS’s Australian small caps research is headed by Tim Plumbe.
The bank also hired Lucy Huang from Bank of America as head of telco, media and technology sector coverage, and said she would work alongside Tom Beadle.
The recruits also included Laura Sutcliffe, who’s moving from London to Sydney later this year to take up a posting as head of Australian healthcare coverage.
Sutcliffe, who has nearly 20 years of experience working on the sell-side, is in UBS ‘equities research team in London, covering European large cap pharma and biotech stocks.
UBS also picked up Wiliam Wilson, a consultant from PwC, as an associate to cover building materials and steel, and Fraser Noye, a chartered accountant from KPMG, for insurance and diversified financials.
