Cody Simpson has finally made his new romance Instagram official after months of speculation.
The singer turned swimmer posted a series of pictures of him holding hands with Olympian Emma McKeon, alongside the caption: “A brief rendezvous in Barcelona with my love”.
The Australian swimmers appear to be having some downtime while training for the Commonwealth Games, which will start on July 28 in Birmingham, England.
Fans have dubbed the lovebirds an “iconic Aussie duo”.
“You guys are beautiful together,” wrote one fan under Simpson’s post.
“I can not even be jealous y’all are perfect!” wrote another.
“It seems a match made in heaven,” added a third.
The former singer – who dated supermodel Gigi Hadid in 2013 before Miley Cyrus in 2019 and 2020 – hopes to attend the Paris 2024 Olympic Games while McKeon is looking to hold on to her world records.
McKeon, dubbed “Queen of the pool”, made world history during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, securing seven medals.
Gold Coast-born Simpson qualified for this year’s Commonwealth Games after finishing third in the 100m butterfly final at the national championships in Adelaide in May.
The 25-year-old is following in the footsteps of his parents. Mother Angie competed at the 1987 Pan Pacific Games and father Brad swam for Australia at the 1994 Commonwealth Games.
“My mum swam for Australia and I told her as a little boy that I wanted to swim for Australia as well,” Simpson previously said.
“And then obviously I was sidetracked for the better part of 10 years.
When I decided to come back (to the pool), she was one of the only people to say ‘Are you sure you want to do that? Do you understand the work it entails? ‘
“It means everything to me.
“I certainly did not even expect it to even be a possibility until 2024.
“So the fact that stuff has started to happen so quickly, so early, is just unreal.”
